Unearthing Pittsburgh’s Lost Gardens:
The Sewickley Heights History Center sponsors a lecture entitled
“Unearthing Pittsburgh’s Lost Gardens:
A Photographic History of Our Botanical Treasures”.
| The lecture focuses on the gardens of Sewickley and Pittsburgh’s East End and their final fate. A glass lantern slide collection, now housed at the Hunt Institute, is a highlight of the lecture. It stresses the importance of historic photographic preservation and its role in archival documentation that is necessary for garden restoration projects. We also review the histories of the Garden Club of American and the very active charter club, the Garden Club of Allegheny County. |

This free lecture, followed by a question and answer session, lasts approximately one hour. Refreshments can be provided, appropriate to the time of day.
Your organization may contact the history center concerning availability for a meeting or a special event. In the future, the museum will continue to host other historic lectures, family events, musical events, as well as antique car/carriage and horse shows. It is our hope that many of these programs will attract new visitors to the history center and will inspire foundations to embrace our mission.
